Tour update: Life on the road with Train and Maroon 5

Train's lead singer Pat Monahan and David Whiteside with Catawba Riverkeeper, David Merrymen and his wife Jen. (Charlotte, NC - August 2, 2011)

Life on tour with Train and Maroon 5 is going very well. We are two weeks into the partnership between these bands and Waterkeeper Alliance. The bands, venues and the Waterkeeper team have worked with 8 local groups across 12 cities along the summer tour. The local Waterkeeper organizations have reached many local citizens and educated them about their mission and work on their local waterways!

Delaware Riverkeeper recruited signatures against toxic “fracking” in their watershed in Camden, NJ. Buzzards Baykeeper passed out thousands of “Save Buzzards Bay” bumper stickers in Mansfield, MA. Both Waterkeeper Alliance and Hudson Riverkeeper had a strong presence on Long Island in Wantagh, NY.

It has been a great start to an exciting partnership and the Waterkeepers are forever grateful to Train and Maroon 5 for inviting us out to raise awareness about our anti-pollution efforts.
